Position the AN-S9 in a suitable location, close to your turntable and phonostage
input. It is important to remember that the Step Up Transformers inside the AN-S9
are highly susceptible to noise created by power supplies, mains cables etc. If you
experience any ‘hum’ problems, move the AN-S9 to a different location, further away
from possible causes of noise, and try changing it’s orientation, rotating it clockwise /
anticlockwise until any noise is eliminated / reduced to an acceptable level.

Once located, connect the AN-S9 between your turntable and phonostage input.
Connect your tonearm / turntable output cables to the

input

sockets

on the AN-S9,

and the

output

cables

of the AN-S9 to your MM phonostage input.

If your tonearm has a separate earth lead, connect this to the dedicated

earth /

grounding post

located on the rear of the AN-S9. It may also be worthwhile

connecting this earth / ground post to the earth / ground post of your pre-amplifier /
phonostage / amplifier (if one is available). This will often further reduce low level
noise or ‘hum’, however this is not always guaranteed, so some experimentation is
advised to ascertain the best arrangement.

Additionally, a ‘ground lift’ switch is installed, adjacent to the earth / grounding post;
this can be used to disconnect or ‘lift’ the ground connection, which may further
reduce low level noise or ‘hum’. As with the ground connection above, a degree of
experimentation is advised.

Once all connections have been made, no further adjustment is required; you are
now ready to enjoy some music!
