INSTALLATION/REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS

The installation/removal of the ViroSafe

EY Filter (P/N SING VSEY) and/or Kit (P/N VSEY1-4) into the Buffalo Filter

PlumeSafe

®

Whisper

TURBO

Smoke Evacuator System (P/N PSWTURBO) is easy to perform. The ViroSafe

EY Filter is to be used with the Buffalo Filter EY Prefilter (P/N BFEY04PF)

during laser procedures.

NOTE:

Failure to use the Buffalo Filter EY prefilter will dramatically shorten the 12-hour life of the ViroSafe

EY Filter.

CAUTION:

Before installing or removing any filter, be sure that the system main power is turned off.

CAUTION:

If fluid is expected to be introduced into the ViroSafe

EY Filter, the Buffalo Filter EY Prefilter or the smoke evacuation system, fluid collection

device (BF P/N SCC1001) must be installed with the vacuum hose assembly. Failure to install a fluid collection device could cause filter blockage
and electrical damage.

Please follow these instructions for installing/removing the filter:

1.

Remove the filter from shipping box and any protective wrapping. Examine filters for damage. If
damaged, contact local shipper for damage notification.

2.

Install the ViroSafe

EY Filter into the front square opening of the smoke evacuation system.

Be sure that the filter is seated completely into the opening and that the filter is resting on the
bottom plate.

3.

Insert a Buffalo Filter EY Prefilter into the port on the ViroSafe

EY Filter by inserting

the clear end of the prefilter into the ViroSafe

EY Filter to assure complete sealing.

4.

Attach the recommended Buffalo Filter EY Hose Kit (P/N VTEYKIT) according to the
instructions that accompany that product.

5.

Proceed with the proper use of the smoke evacuation system as outlined in the
Operator’s Manual.

6.

Change the Buffalo Filter EY Prefilter after 1 to 3 procedures or
if airflow rate is dramatically reduced.

FILTER LIFE RESET – TIMED FILTER LIFE

7. If your PlumeSafe Smoke Evacuator is equipped with RFID Intelligence (label located on top of the filter and on the smoke evacuation system) and the

electronic keypad DOES NOT HAVE A FILTER RESET BUTTON – the smoke evacuation system will automatically adjust the timer for the correct
filter life, proceed to step #10.

8. Older model PlumeSafe Smoke Evacuators have a built-in filter life timer of six (6) hours and the electronic keypad HAS A FILTER LIFE RESET

button. After initial installation of the filter, press the FILTER LIFE RESET button on the membrane key panel and hold for 5 seconds. This will reset
the filter life indicator.

9. Use the check boxes located on the top of the filter to assist in tracking your filter life after six hours (the red filter life LED will “blink” after each six hour

period). Simply reset your filter life by pressing the reset button and holding for 5 seconds to track your next six hour filter life. Once you have checked
all boxes (two times maximum), your filter life has been exhausted and requires changing.

10. Remove the ViroSafe filter from the smoke evacuation system when no filter life is remaining and replace with fresh VSEY filter. Dispose of in

accordance with local codes.
