Congratulations on purchasing your new
freezer cabinet!

Please note that this user manual applies to all cabinets of the

type Caravell
The illustrations and equipment will therefore not necessarily

correspond completely to your model.

1 Set-up

Ensure that the cabinet is not damaged upon receipt. Transport
damage must be reported to your dealer no later than 24 hours

after delivery. The cabinet should be taken into a dry room at

normal room temperature with adequate air circulation.
Position the cabinet so that there is unrestricted air circulation

around it, i.e. so that there is at least
50 mm of space to all sides.
Never place the cabinet in direct sunlight. The cabinet should be

set up on a level surface and should stand with free circulation

around it.
If the cabinet has been stored or transported cold, do not attempt

to start it until the compressor has reached a temperature of at
least +5°C. Before the box is started, washing is recommended.

(See Section 6. Maintenance).
If the cabinet on the machine sign is marked Class 04, it should
not be set up in a higher ambient temperature than +30°C. 4+ can

handle an ambient temperature of +35°C and 05 can handle an

ambient temperature of up to +40°C.
Fitting shelves:
In the aluminium inner container each shelf is held in place by 4

shelf brackets. These are fitted as shown on Figure 4.
Ensure that they are all fitted at the same height. There is a

marking on every 8th hole that can be used for alignment

purposes.
The shelves must be fitted so that the low edge faces the door.

The distance guard must face upwards at the back of the cabinet,
as it needs to prevent products from blocking the airflow. See

Figure 4. The bottom shelf must be fitted in the bottom holes in the

shelf rail.
In cabinets with a plastic inner container shelves are placed in the

vacuum-shaped grooves on both sides of all inner containers. See
Figure 5. Shelves are placed with the thread wire loop upwards

and the wire loop furthest inside the cabinet as it must prevent

products touching the evaporator and thereby freezing.
Products must NEVER be placed directly on the bottom of the

cabinet.
Doors:
Both the foam filled and glass doors are reversible on the 390-392-

394-400-402-404 models. If reversing is required, please contact

your local service organisation.
The door is not reversible on the 366 freezer cabinet. The freezer

cabinet is supplied either with an insulated foam filled door or a

heated glass door. The glass door is provided with a self-closer.
The door closes automatically using a torsion spring that is placed

in the vertical sections in the door.
The refrigerator with sliding doors is provided with top-hung, self-
closing sliding doors. The sliding doors close using a contra weight

located in the vertical frame sections. The contra weight system
ensures an even and constant closing of the doors. The plastic

frame around the glass doors is shaped so that the doors can be
slid past each other so that cleaning inside the cabinet is easy.

The doorframe is constructed so that it is very easy to clean. The
distance between the doors and the adjustable bottom section

must be 1 mm. It is recommended that you call a service

technician to adjust or replace door parts.
Lighting:
The refrigerator/freezing cabinet can have a 36-Watt strip light in
each side. Models 601-605-801-803 come with a 38-Watt strip

light in each side. The lamp glass is removed for replacement of
strip lights as shown in Figure 8. Remember to disconnect the

power.

2 Electrical connection

The appliance complies with EU requirements for radio noise

suppression in accordance with Directive 82/499/EEC.
The freezer should be connected to a socket rated at the correct

voltage and frequency. This is specified on the manufacturer’s
plate on the back of the freezer. The normal voltage for Europe is

230V/50Hz. Voltage variations of +/- 10% are acceptable. Larger
variations can damage the cabinet and in such cases the factory

guarantee will be void. Your local dealer will be able to assist with

extreme over/under voltage variations.
This cabinet must be given additional protection in accordance
with the applicable power regulations. This also applies even in the

case of a replacement of an existing freezer that has not been had
additional protection. The purpose of the additional protection is to

protect users from dangerous electrical shocks in case of defects.
The flexible cord fitted to this appliance has three cores for use

with a 3-pin plug (13 Amp or 15 Amp).
The wires in this mains lead are colour-coded as follows:
Green and yellow = Earth
Blue

= Neutral

Brown

= Live

When connecting to a plug, the wires in the mains lead should be

connected to the corresponding plug terminals. The green and
yellow wire must be connected to the earth terminal marked by E

or an earth symbol or coloured green or green and yellow; the blue
wire should be connected to the neutral terminal marked N or

coloured black; the brown wire should be connected to the live

terminal marked L or coloured red.
Check if the voltage and frequency available match the voltage
and frequency indicated on the rating plate at the back of the

refrigerator/freezer.
