Under no circumstances should you try to repair the set yourseif, as this will
invalidate the warranty.
• If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the set for repair.
• If you are unable to remedy a problem by following these hints, consult your authorized service center.
Problem
Possible Cause

No sound/no power
VOLUME is not adjusted.
Adjust the VOLUME.
Headphones are connected.
Disconnect headphones.
AC power cord is not securely
connected.
Connect the AC power cord properly.
Batteries are dead.
Insert new batteries.
Batteries are incorrectly inserted.
Insert the batteries correctly.
Changing over from AC power supply
to battery supply.
Pull out the AC power plug from the
unit's AC power socket.
No reaction to
operation of any keys
Electrostatic discharge.
Disconnect the set from power supply
reconnect it after a few seconds or
remove the batteries and insert them
again.
Poor radio reception
Weak radio aerial signal.
Aim the aerial for optimum reception:
- FM: incline and rotate telescopic
aerial.
- AM: rotate the entire set.
Interference caused bythe vicinity of
electrical equipment like TVs, video
recorders, computers, thermostats,
fluorescent lamps (TL), engines, etc.
Keep the radio away from electrical
equipment.
"l-R IL"
indication
CD is badly scratched or dirty.
Replace or clean the CD, see
maintenance.
CD inserted upside down.
Insert a CD with label upwards.
2 CDs inserted into one tray.
Remove one CD.
Laser lens is steamed up.
Wait until the lens has acclimatized.
The CD skips tracks
CD is damaged or dirty.
Replace or clean the CD.
SHUFFLE or PROGRAM is active.
Switch off SHUFFLE or PROGRAM play.
Poor cassette sound
quality
Dust and dirt on the heads, capstan
or pressure roller.
Clean the heads, capstan and pressure
roller, see maintenance.
Use of unsuitable cassette types
(metal or chrome).
Use only NORMAL cassettes (lEC 1) for
recording.
Recording does not
work
Cassette tab(s) may be broken out.
Apply a piece of adhesive tape over
the missing tab space.
Source select not
working.
Tape is in PLAY or RECORD mode.
Stop play or record in TAPE mode.
