WIRING INSTRUCTIONS FOR STAR SWITCH #SP3860-5

(ON/OFF)(ON/OFF)(ON/OFF)(ON/OFF)(ON/OFF) Switches

1. IMPORTANT: Please read all of the following instructions before installing your new Star switch

panel. This instruction sheet applies only to the model #SP3860-5. Switch #SP3860-5 is
designed to operate five warning lights or strobe paks.

2. CAUTION: All of our DC powered warning lights are polarity sensitive. These lights are polarity

protected only if the appropriate fuses are used. All wires connected to the positive terminal of the
battery should be fused at the battery for their rated load, in addition to the fuse provided at the
switch panel. Testing the light before these fuses are properly installed will void the
warranty on the switch and light.

3. The black wires from all five warning lights or paks should be connected to good chassis grounds.

4. The black wire from terminal 3 of SW1 should be connected to a good chassis ground.

5. Connect the red wire from terminal 2 of SW1 to the red wire from one of your warning lights.

6. Connect the blue wire from terminal 2 of SW2 to the red wire from the second warning light.

7. Connect the orange wire from terminal 2 of SW3 to the red wire from your third warning light.

8. Connect the green wire from terminal 2 of SW4 to the red wire from your fourth warning light.

9. Connect the yellow wire from terminal 2 of SW5 to the red wire from your fifth warning light.

10. Connect the two fused red wires from terminal 1 of SW1 and from terminal 1 of SW3 to the

positive side of the 12VDC power through a 10, 15, 20, or 25 amp fuse, depending upon the total
current draw of the lights you are installing. Be sure to check the label on the warning lights for
proper voltage and current.

11. When properly installed, SW1 will be on the left side of the switch panel (front view) and turn your

first strobe light on and off, SW2 will be second from the left and turn the second warning light on
and off, SW3 will be third from the left on the switch panel and turn the third warning light on and
off, SW4 will be fourth from the left on the switch panel and turn the fourth warning light on and off,
and SW5 will be on the right and turn your fifth warning light on and off.
