4x4 & 4x4T BUFFER AMPLIFIER
The Oxmoor 4x4™ is a com-
pact four-channel buffer/
mixer/distribution amplifier.
Any of the four inputs can be
assigned to any (or all) of the
four outputs. Two indepen-
dent mixing buses enable sig-
nals to be mixed before or af-
ter the gain stage. Front panel
controls provide
±
15 dB of
gain adjustment that may be
assigned to the inputs or out-
puts, and the outputs can de-
liver +24 dBm to a 600 ohm or
higher impedance load.
Jumper blocks are used to con-
figure the unit, thus affording
complete flexibility with secu-
rity; nobody can casually re-
configure your system by
twiddling the knobs.
All inputs and outputs are via
XLR connectors and are elec-
tronically balanced: output
transformers are optional
(4x4T version). The inputs are
RFI protected so the unit
works perfectly even in a
broadcast facility.
While the 4x4 is a great DA
with four independently ad-
justable outputs, this unit does
more than distribute audio. Its
mixing capability enables it to
combine four inputs to drive a
single output. It can be used
as a zone mixer or a line driver.
It is ideal for matching up the
levels in any sound system,
including awkward hi-fi to
pro-level conversions (which
the 4x4 can perform while also
giving you stereo output and
a mono sum, too, if you wish).
All this capability occupies just
1-3/4" space in a standard EIA
19" rack.
As with all Oxmoor products,
the 4x4 Buffer Amplifier is de-
signed and built to the highest
professional standards. Its con-
servative design, top quality
components, solder-masked cir-
cuit board, rugged extruded alu-
minum chassis and quality con-
nectors all ensure long-term re-
liability. Audio quality will be
unaffected by the 4x4 with its
ruler-flat response, 100 dB dy-
namic range, and extremely low
distortion. What’s more, 80 dB
of separation all the way out to
20 kHz, means that those four
inputs and outputs will remain
discrete unless you intentionally
mix them.
