As the boost is a decibel level boost only, you are not likely to use it as part of your normal
sound. Proof of this is that your sound does not alter by kicking on the boost. If you think it
does, you’ll probably find that you can accomplish the same tone by turning up the amp
instead of turning on the boost as the boost is only a volume increase. So we recommend
you use the boost as an intermittent feature rather than an “always on” feature.

SWITCHING

Your Spec Op provides you a number of ways to switch your amp. Let’s get familiar with all
of them!

FRONT PANEL SWITCHING

Your amp’s front panel comes equipped with 3 small toggle switches. Switch 1 switches
between Channel 1 and Channel 2. Channel 1 is to the right as you face the amp, which is
the “off” position of the switch.

When the amp is switched to Channel 2, Switch 2 (labeled Ch 2A/Ch 2B) will toggle between
Volume/Gain A and Volume/Gain B on Channel 2. Ch 2A is on the right, which is the “off”
position of the switch.

Note: if Switch 2 is in the “on” (Ch 2B position), when you flip Switch 1 back to Channel 1
may not cause the amp to switch back. It is recommended that if you want to switch back
from Channel 2B to Channel 1 that you set both Switch 1 and Switch 2 to “off.”

The Boost Switch is a simple on/off switch that can be activated or deactivated regardless of
what’s going on with Switch 1 or Switch 2.

SPEC OP CONTROLLER (FOOTSWITCH)

The supplied footswitch is as rugged as the amp. Featuring the highest grade of switches
and a 14 gauge steel chassis, you’ll be hard pressed to kill this piece. The footswitch is
connected through the use of a 5-pin XLR cable. Note: All 5 pins are active and so is the
internal drain wire. Simple XLR cables can NOT be used as extension cables. Extension
cables can be obtained from DA.

When you connect your footswitch and power on your amp, it is normal to see 3 lights on (Ch
2A, Ch 2B, Boost). This is the normal state of these switches on power up. So, turn off the
Boost switch and set the amp to Channel 1 to get started. Occasionally, the footswitch may
return to the last setting on power up. This is normal too.

The footswitch has its own PC Board internally to give you direct access to all channels and
the boost on the fly. Simply step on the channel you want and off you go.

A word about Channel 2B. When you step on Ch 2B, you will see the lights turn on for Ch 2A
and Ch 2B. This is normal operation. The dual light feature makes it easier for the player to
distinguish on a dark stage. This is only an LED function. It does not change the operation
