When connected to your mobile phone, the FreeCharge may affect mobile phone reception if cranked while
placing or receiving a call. The charging performance of the FreeCharge may be affected by temperatures
below 0ºC (60ºF) or above 40ºC (100ºF). When cleaning, do not use abrasives or chemicals. Only use a
damp cloth with mild detergents. Do not immerse this product in water. Do not open the product casings
other than when disposing of the unit.
Manual Charging
To charge manually, flip out the handle and wind, ensuring the green LED effort level indicator is illuminated.
Talk and standby times provided by the FreeCharge are dependent on duration and level of winding effort,
and the type of mobile phone used.
Performance will vary from user to user - predictable results are identified through experimentation and
practice. The longer and harder you wind, the more energy is transferred to the phone. The FreeCharge may
be wound separately or whilst connected to the mobile phone.
Adapter Charging
To charge the FreeCharge, use the phone’s own charging adapter and insert its connector into the correct
adapter module for your phone, which is in turn inserted into the FreeCharge base unit. The Green LED
situated on the base unit will illuminate to indicate charging. The actual time taken depends upon the wall
charger used.
To charge the mobile phone, insert the adapter module’s connector into the mobile phone. Switch on by
pressing the power button on the adapter module. The red LED will light, indicating charging is in progress.
(The mobile phone display should indicate that it is charging.) The duration of the charging cycle is
dependent on the level of charge provided by the winding mechanism or the wall adapter. Once the energy
from FreeCharge has been transferred to the phone, the red LED will go out, indicating that charging has
ceased.The user can also control the duration of the charging process by terminating the transfer of energy
at any time by pressing the power switch.
Internal Battery
For best results, the FreeCharge’s internal battery requires a conditioning charge prior to first use.
This is achieved by a vigorous wind for at least 45 seconds followed by a 24 hour wall charge. The
FreeCharge can, however, be used immediately in the wind-up mode.
