3. If the PF key does not have a key sequence assigned to it, X-F is displayed on the operator
status row.
4. If the PF key has a key sequence assigned to it, the sequence plays back and P is displayed
in the operator status row. Which keys or key combinations play back depends on the keyboard
type. Some keyboard types require a series of keystrokes to perform a particular function. If
the keyboard on which the key functions were recorded is a different type from the keyboard
on which the keystrokes are playing back, the played back key sequence may differ from
the recorded key sequence, but the keystroke functions remain the same. For example, if
you record the PF13 key on a 122-key keyboard and play back the function on a 102-key
keyboard, the Shift-PF1 key combination is played back.
5. When the stored key sequence has finished playing back, the P is no longer displayed on
the status row.
Note: Many of the Extended Select functions can operate in Playback mode only if the
playback keyboard device type is the same type as the record keyboard device type because
several of the Extended Select functions require different activation sequences on different
keyboard types.
Pausing During Playback
If you recorded a pause during the record operation, the playback operation pauses to give the
host time to respond to a played back AID key. The pause symbol, P[block] is displayed
during the playback pause. You can also use the pause to enter keys from the keyboard that
were not included in the record operation. To return to the record operation, press the Pause
key.
Playback Error Conditions
The following error conditions abnormally terminate the playback operation:
• The device is powered off (POFF) during playback.
• Device transmission errors occur.
• The user presses the Reset key.
When a playback error condition occurs, X-? is displayed on the operator status row.
