The LCD monitor displays vertical lines

Cause

What to do

Did you point the camera
toward a strong bright light?

When you take photos, any very bright light may affect the sensor
and cause the lines to appear on the monitor. They will not appear
in the recorded image itself.

Nothing appears on the LCD monitor

What to do

Is the Mode dial turned
fully?

Turn the Mode dial fully to the mode you want and press the
POWER button fully.

Is the camera connected to a
computer?

When the camera is connected to a computer, the LCD monitor
is disabled.

Are you using the camera to
perform direct printing?

Try pressing a button or moving the joystick. The printing
progress is displayed on the LCD. If you do not touch a button
or the joystick for a certain period of time, the LCD will turn off
again.
