Auto Focus

When you press the Shutter button halfway down, the

camera automatically measures and locks the focus and

exposure. This is called auto focus. The following table

describes the indicators in the Image Display when you auto

focus:

Focusing on the Subject

When the camera is set to its default

Multi focus area setting (see

page 74), it uses the five focus

regions within the focus brackets,

shown at right, to determine focus.

When you press the Shutter button

halfway down, the camera

searches for focus starting from the

closest distance. When it finds focus

in one region, it then examines

other focus regions, displaying

those in focus as green brackets. In

the image to the right, the camera

has found focus in regions one, two, and five.
