Note: All the DMX values identified in the following descriptions are in

decimal units.

Standard Movement and Projection Controls

Pan and Tilt

Channels 1– 4 control the Pan and Tilt parameters. The DL.1 fixture has a 400° pan
range and a 270° tilt range. Two channels for Pan and two for Tilt provide 16-bit
position adjustment to a fraction of a degree.
MSpeed values control the timing of pan and tilt motion for DL.1 fixtures, (see

“MSpeed (Motor Speed)” on page 4-3). To control Pan and Tilt movement timing via
DMX controller crossfading, set Pan/Tilt MSpeed off in the Control parameter (see
“Control Function” on page 4-7 in the DMX Protocol Table.)

Note: Optical encoders for pan and tilt instantly correct the fixture’s position if

the fixture is jarred from its programmed position. If a physical obstruction
prevents the fixture from correcting its position, the fixture “times out” to
prevent wear on the motors. If the fixture has timed out, remove the
obstruction and home the fixture to return it to normal operation.

Dimming Iris

DL.1 fixtures have a mechanical iris that functions as a dimmer for the fixture output.
This feature gives the operator the ability to fully shutter the output and eliminate the
residual luminance from video black. Channel 5 controls the dimming iris adjustment
from closed (DMX value = 0) to fully open (DMX value = 255).

Focus

Channel 6 controls the fixture’s mechanical focus from near (DMX value = 0) to far
(DMX value = 255).

Zoom

Channel 7 controls the fixture’s mechanical zoom from narrow (DMX value = 0) to
wide (DMX value = 255).

MSpeed (Motor Speed)

The MSpeed parameter is controlled with DMX Channel 12. MSpeed is the time
required for a motor to complete movement when changing from one position to
another. MSpeed provides a means for all motors to reach their target position at the
same time, even though each motor may have different distances to travel. MSpeed
movement is extremely smooth because the fixture controls movements independent
of DMX refresh rates.
