Transferring Switch Configurations
You can use the following commands to transfer Switch 212M and Switch
224M configurations between the switch and a PC or Unix workstation.
N o t e Get or Xget overwrites the switch’s current configuration with the down-
loaded configuration. The switch then automatically reboots itself.
Using Get and Put To Transfer a Configuration Between the
Switch and a Networked PC or Unix Workstation
To use Get or Put, you need the following:
■ The IP address of the remote PC or Unix workstation that is acting as a
TFTP server
■ The name assigned to the configuration file you will use on the remote PC
or Unix workstation
N o t e For the “Put” operation, most Unix TFTP servers require that a file of the same
name already exists on the server, in the TFTP directory, and that the file has
“write” permissions.

Command Function
Get Download a switch configuration file from a networked PC or Unix workstation
using TFTP.
Put Upload a switch configuration to a file in a networked PC or Unix workstation
using TFTP.
XGet Uses an Xmodem-compatible terminal emulation program to download a
switch configuration file from a PC or Unix workstation connected to the
switch’s console port.
XPut Uses an Xmodem-compatible terminal emulation program to upload a switch
configuration to a file in a PC or Unix workstation connected to the switch’s
console port.
