LOADING THE BATTERIES
Compatible batteries
●
! Do not apply excessive force to the battery cover.
● ! Take care not to drop the batteries when you open
or close the battery cover.
●
! See P.94-96 for notes on the batteries.
AA-size Ni-MH batteries
Fujifilm HR-3UF: 2 (supplied with the camera or
sold separately)
1Slide the battery cover out and lift it open.
2Insert the batteries correctly as indicated by
the polarity icons.
3Close the battery cover.

Notes on Handling Alkaline Batteries
◆
Alkaline batteries should only be used in an emergency.
Note the following when using alkaline batteries:
iThe battery terminals should be wiped clean with a
clean, dry cloth.
iAlways switch the LCD monitor off ( ➡P.27) before
using alkaline batteries. Alkaline batteries cannot
be used in Macro mode, Movie mode or Digital
zoom mode.
iThe available shots/time for battery operation are
limited. The available shots/time for battery
operation vary depending on the battery brand and
the ambient temperature. At temperatures of +5°C
(+40°F) and below, it may not be possible to take
pictures or play back music.
iBecause you are using the FinePix30i with the LCD
monitor switched off, the power cuts out without a
remaining battery low warning being displayed.

● ! You should carry a spare set of batteries (sold
separately) when taking pictures.

! Do not use different types of batteries or old and new
batteries together.
●
! You cannot use lithium, manganese or nickel-
cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries.

SmartMedia ™ (sold separately)
1 Check that the camera is switched off. Then hold the
camera so that the battery cover faces upwards and
slide the cover out to open it.
2 Push the SmartMedia firmly into the SmartMedia
slot as far as it will go.
3 Close the battery cover.

! If you open the battery cover while the camera is
switched on, the camera automatically switches off to
protect the data on the SmartMedia.
● !
The SmartMedia will not slide fully into the slot if it is
inserted facing the wrong way. Be careful not to apply
undue force to the SmartMedia.

MG-4S ( 4MB), MG-16SW ( 16MB, ID)
MG-8S ( 8MB), MG-32SW ( 32MB, ID)

● ! Image files cannot be recorded or erased if a write-
protect sticker is affixed to the SmartMedia.
● ! Operation of this camera is only guaranteed when it
is used with FUJIFILM SmartMedia.
● ! Some 3.3V SmartMedia are labelled as “3V” or “ID”
cards.
