3. Apply power to the controller, by using the power switch on the AC Power Entry Control-

ler. You should hear a momentary audible tone (beep), and see the indicator LEDs illumi-
nate. In addition, the controller reset button (see Figure 1–4) contains a green LED, which
should flash at approximately 1 Hz. For additional information, refer to the SWXRC RAID
Array Controller User’s Guide
(EK-SMCS1-UG) and the SWXSC-AA Office Expansion
RAID Enclosure User’s Guide
(EK-SMCPD-UG), included with these systems.

Power on the RAID Controller. The batteries should be fully recharged within six hours.

NOTE

As an alternative to waiting six hours, you may proceed now with
the installation and getting started steps described in subsequent
chapters of this manual. Then, when you perform the steps de-
scribed in

Chapter 4, Installing and Using the RAID Array 410

Manager for Windows NT, you will be able to check the status of
the batteries. This is described in

Section 4.4, Setting Controller

Communications. If the battery status shows “good,” you may then
continue, and create your configuration.
