STARTUP.

iii. Highlight the GPS Satellite Menu button. The GPS receiver will locate

automatically the GPS satellites. This may take some time. You may

see the signal strength and number of satellites seen by accessing

the Satellite Icon on the Main Menu screen. YOU NEED TO HAVE

THE UNIT SEE ATLEAST A 2D OR 3D FIX BEFORE BEING ABLE

TO TRANSMITT YOUR POSITION OR A WAYPOINT.

b. CALIBRATE THE COMPASS

i. Access the COMPASS Menu

1. Once accessed, press and hold the ENTER Button

a. A dialog box will appear and show that the compass is

in Calibration Mode (Calibrating)

2. Rotate the GPS-MIC-1 unit through two 360 degree revolutions

3. Then Press the ENTER Button.

a. A Message will appear if you have successfully

calibrated the unit’s compass.

i. If Not, repeat the process

4. Press MENU to exit.

Congratulations, you have now configured your GPS hand held unit.

You may now start using the system.

OPERATION

With the GPS-MIC-1 unit’s Power turned OFF, and with your two way

transceiver also unpowered, connect the GPS-MIC-1 unit to your two way

radio transceiver using the appropriate radio accessory cable. (sold

separately). Consult the factory if you are not sure which cable to use.
