Introduction

OPEN/CLOSE

Opens and closes the disc tray.

RESUME

Stores the location to be resumed later.
(See "Resuming Playback" on pages 24, 30 and 38.)

ANGLE (for DVD)

Changes camera angles during playback of a DVD
shooting by multiple cameras.
(See "Changing the Angle" on page 27.)

SUB-TITLE ON/OFF (for DVD)

Turns on or off subtitles.
(See "Subtitle on/off" on page 27.)

SLOW (for DVD/video CD)

Starts slowmotion playback.
(See "Playing in slow-motion" on pages 24 and 37.)

STEP (for DVD/video CD)

Advances pictures frame by frame.
(See "Advancing a picture frame-by-frame" on pages
23 and 37.)

DVD MENU

Displays a DVD menu on the television screen or
monitor.
(See "Displaying DVD menus" on page 21.)

RETURN (for DVD/video CD)

Returns to the previous menu.

3 PLAY/8 PAUSE

Starts playback. Also, pauses during playback.

7 STOP

Stops playback.

ON SCREEN

Displays an on-screen display of the XV-1000BK on the
television screen or monitor.
(See "On-screen displays" on page 17.)

(Cursor buttons)

Selects an item in on-screen displays or DVD menus.

Infrared light-emitting window

Point this window toward the remote sensor on the
front panel when pressing buttons.

POWER

Switches the power on and the player to standby.

Numeric keys

Inputs title/track/chapter numbers and disc time.

4, ¢ (Skip/Search)

Performs skip, fast forward/backward, or previous/next.

ENTER/SELECT

Executes a selected item in a menu or on-screen display.
