Chapter 4 Playing Discs
(DVP-NW50 only)
TV Display
Selects the aspect ratio of the connected TV screen (4:3
standard or wide).
Depending on the disc, “Normal/LB” may be selected
automatically instead of “Normal/PS” or vice versa.
The default setting is underlined.
Normal/PS
(4:3 PAN SCAN)
Select this when you connect a 4:3
screen TV. Automatically displays
a wide picture on the entire screen
and cuts off the portions that do not fit.
Normal/LB
(4:3 LETTER BOX)
Select this when you connect a 4:3 screen
TV. Displays a wide picture with bands
on the upper and lower portions of the
screen.
16:9 Wide
Select this when you connect a wide-
screen TV or a TV with a wide mode
function.
Angle Mark (page 26)
When you select “ON,” and various angles (multi-angles)
for a scene are recorded on the DVD VIDEO, an angle
mark is displayed on the TV screen.
The default setting is “ON.”
OSD Lang (On-Screen Display Language)
Switches the display language on the screen.
Captions
The hidden subtitle is displayed or turn off.
The default setting is “ON.”
Screen Saver
The screen saver image appears when you leave the Unit
in pause or stop mode for five minutes. The screen saver
will help prevent your display device from becoming
damaged (ghosting). Press any button to turn off the
screen saver.
The default setting is underlined.
ON Turns on the screen saver.
OFF Turns off the screen saver.
Setting the language and playback
restriction (Preference)
Choose settings according to the TV to be connected.

Press DVD SETUP on the remote when the Unit is in
stop mode.
The Setting Menu appears.
2 Press G/g to select (Preference,) then press
ENTER or f on the remote.
The options for “Preference” appear.
3 Press F/f to select an option, then press ENTER on
the remote.
The options for the selected item appear.

Press F/f to select an item, then press ENTER on
the remote.
Audio (page 26)
Switches the language of the sound track.
Subtitle (page 26)
Switches the language of the subtitle.
Disc Menu
Select the desired language for the disc menu.
Parental (page 27)
Playback of some DVD VIDEOs can be limited according
to a predetermined level, such as the age of the users.
Password (page 27)
Set the 4-digit password in parental control.
