Lens Type

Procedure

Lenses without a CPU

F-- blinks instead of the aperture value in
the Top Status LCD and viewfinder.

Set the aperture manually with lens
aperture ring.

Lenses having fixed aperture, such as a
Reflex-Nikkor lenses

Aperture cannot be changed. Adjust
exposure by changing the shutter speed.

Lenses without an auto diaphragm such as
a PC-Nikkor lens

Lens is stopped down when a smaller
aperture (larger f-stop) is selected. Focus
manually with the lens at the maximum
aperture.
