Installation

NOTE: Whenever playback of a 24/96 disc is desired, press 2-CH
while holding down the Shift button on the remote control. If you
are using SMALL loudspeakers, these inputs will send a full
frequency response signal to the outputs, completely bypassing
the internal crossovers. Do not use this input with Dolby Digital or
DTS signals.

Whenever playback of non-24/96 discs is desired, select the

regular

input on the MC-1 remote control or front panel.

Digital Output

For digital-to-digital audio recording, the MC-1 also includes a coaxial
digital audio output (S/PDIF OUT). Any digital audio input (coaxial or
optical) selected for Record or Zone 2 will be sent directly to this output.

NOTE: Analog audio inputs and the Expansion Port inputs are

not

available at the S/PDIF OUT, and the REC/ZONE 2 option in the
Input Configuration menu does

not affect the S/PDIF OUT.

"AC-3 Ready" Laser Disc and LD/DVD Players

"AC-3 ready" laser disc and LD/DVD players output Dolby Digital
(AC-3) data from laser discs on a separate RCA jack in Radio Frequency
(RF) form. To maintain the exceptional performance of the MC-1, an
outboard demodulator is required to turn this RF signal back into a digital
bitstream. By performing the necessary demodulation outside the
MC-1, the potential for RF interference is eliminated. The Lexicon
LDD-1 is an excellent example of one such device.
