The color of the subject changes with the light source. For example, the
same white object will be a different shade of white in daylight than under
a light bulb. In cameras using film, this is adjusted by changing the film or
using filters. In digital cameras, the whiteness is adjusted using white
balance. The default setting is [F (Auto)].
The color temperature (K) is an estimate. This does not indicate precise colors.

Set to automatically adjust the white balance. (About 4000
to 8000K)
G Daylight Set when taking pictures in sunlight. (About 5200K)
H Shade Set when taking pictures in the shade. (About 8000K)
^ Cloudy Set when taking pictures on cloudy days. (About 6000K)
J
Fluorescent
Light
Set this when taking pictures under fluorescent lighting.
Select the type of fluorescent light, from W (white)
(4200K), N (neutral white) (5000K), and D (daylight)
(6500K).

Tungsten
Light
Set when taking pictures under light bulb or other
tungsten light. (About 2850K)
b Flash
Set to take pictures using the built-in flash.
(About 5400K)
K Manual
Set to take pictures by manually adjusting the white
balance.
• Refer to p.113 for manual adjustment method.
• The above adjustment is not reflected in Picture mode.
