Recording a Program

Recording While You’re Away (Timer Recording)

The timer program and VCR Plus+ features let you program the VCR to record up to eight
different programs within a one year period. Before setting the timer, make sure that:

¥ The clock is set correctly.
¥ A tape with its safety tab in place has been inserted and has enough tape to record

the programs.

¥ The remote is set to control the VCR Ñ using

VCR1 (VCR2•DVD)

.

¥ If you receive all channels through a cable box or RCA satellite receiver, set up the cable

box or receiver as described on pages 10-11.

Setting a Timer Recording

1.

Press

MENU

on the remote to display the

VCR MAIN MENU

TIMER RECORDINGS

menu.

3.

Press

to display the

CREATE A NEW PROGRAM

menu.

Press

to select type of program.

1 ONE TIME

Ñ single program recorded once.

2 DAILY

Ñ program recorded at same time every day.

3 WEEKDAYS

Ñ program recorded at same

time Monday through Friday.

4 WEEKLY

once a week.

Press number buttons on the remote to enter the channel
number (or

INPUT

to select Ò

L1

Ó or Ò

Ó), start time including

AM

or

PM

, end time, start date, and recording speed of the

recording. Just follow the on-screen prompts.

Press

CLEAR

on the remote to correct an entry.

If you receive all channels from a cable box or satellite receiver
and have completed

CABLE BOX SETUP

and the cable box is

not controllable, the output channel of your cable box or receiver
and

CABLE

automatically appear on the menu.

6.

Press

MENU

to enter your program. A reminder appears which

will time out or you can press

MENU

to return to the

TIMER

RECORDINGS

menu.

If you have entered two programs whose times overlap,

PROGRAMS OVERLAP

appears on the screen.

7.

Repeat steps

3–6

for additional programs or press

MENU

twice

to remove the menu from the TV screen.

8.

Turn off the VCR

before recording begins.

The (

) indicator appears in the VCRÕs display panel when

the timer has been programmed.

9.

Manually Controlled Cable box or Satellite Receiver:

Turn on

the cable box or receiver and tune it to the channel you want to
record before the time the recording is to begin.

Remote Controlled Cable box:

Turn on the cable box before the

time the recording is to begin.

Note: When entering information in the on-screen display, the VCR will
produce an audible tone if the data entered is incorrect.

Stopping a Recording in Progress

You can stop a recording by pressing and holding the

STOP

button

on the remote or

STOP•EJECT

on the VCR for approximately three

seconds.
