OFF

The flash can be turned OFF to photograph sunsets or night scenes, or
for taking pictures in museums where flash photography is prohibited.

If the flash is out, close the flash.

Check that

appears on the control panel and press the shut-

ter release button down all the way.
The picture will be taken without firing the flash.

MEMO

• Shutter speed is prolonged to the maximum 1/2 of a second accord-

ing to the brightness of the subject. Therefore, it is recommended to
use a tripod to keep the camera from shaking.

• Moving objects will come out blurred.
• When the external flash is mounted, be sure to turn it off to override

flash emission.

• If you need to fire flash such as when the subject is in the dark or

backlit, press the shutter release button halfway. The orange lamp
will start blinking (P. 20).

Using the Self-Timer/Remote Control

Using the self-timer or the remote control, pictures can be taken without having to press the shutter release button. This is a
handy feature when taking group photos.

Taking Pictures with the Self-Timer

Set the mode dial to "P", "A", or "M".

Press the [

] button. The first menu appears on the LCD mon-

itor.
See page 38 about how to operate the menus.

Align the cursor with

with the top / bottom point of the jog

dial.

Select

with the right / left point of the jog dial.

Press the [OK] button.
Check

appears on the control panel.

Steady the camera, and determine the composition.
