1. Measure the strings.

on the TI-73.
a. Display the List editor.

Press b after each list item.
3. Find the mean of L 1

a. Return to the Home screen.

4. Inform students that the average small intestine is 6m
(20 ft.) long. Ask:
Was the mean you found close to 6m (20 ft.)?
Who had the closest estimate?
Which estimate was off the farthest?
What are some objects that are 6m (20 ft.) long?
If all the strings were connected together, how long do
you think they would be?

5. Find the sum.
a. Return to the Home screen.
