Setup

On the grid paper, demonstrate how to draw the x- and
y-

axes.

Have students draw and label the x- and y-axes on
their papers. Ask: What do we call the intersection of
the x- and y

-axes? (the origin)

Have students label the origin on their graphs. (0,0)

Review how to graph points on the coordinate grid.
Begin at the origin. Ask: How do I graph (2,5), (5,2),
(-2,5), (5,-2), (2,-5), (-5,2), (-5,-2)?
