Safe installation and operation always require common sense. We are also required by
Canadian and ANSI safety standards to point out the following:

If this appliance is not properly installed, a house fi re or explosion may result. For your
safety, follow the installation directions. Contact local building or fi re offi cials about
restrictions and installation requirements in your area. Please read this entire manual
before you install and use your new appliance. Failure to follow instructions may result
in property damage, bodily injury or death.

Installation and repair should be done by
a qualifi ed service person. The appliance
should be inspected before use and at
least annually by a professional service
person. More frequent cleaning may
be required due to excessive lint from
carpeting, bedding material, et cetera.

It is imperative that control
compartments, burners and circulating
air passageways of the appliance are kept
clean.

Due to high temperatures, the appliance
should be located out of traffi c and away
from furniture and draperies.

Do not use this heater if any part has been
under water. Immediately call a qualifi ed
service technician to inspect the heater
and to replace any part of the control
system and any gas control which has
been under water.

The appliance area must be kept free from
combustible materials, gasoline and other
fl ammable vapors and liquids.

Clothing or other fl ammable materials
should not be placed on or near the
appliance.

The fl exible cord provided must be
connected to a line voltage electrical
supply.

Any safety screen or guard removed
for servicing of a room heater must be
replaced prior to operating the appliance.

Never vent the appliance into other rooms
or buildings. The appliance must be
vented only to the outside.

This appliance must not be connected to
a chimney fl ue serving a separate solid-
fuel burning appliance.

Children and adults should be alerted to
the hazards of high surface temperatures
and should stay away to avoid burns or
clothing ignition.

Young children should be carefully
supervised when they are in the same
room as the appliance.

Provision for adequate combustion and
ventilation air must be provided.

United States by NFI (National
Fireplace Institute

).
