No picture (U.S.A. model)
If you play a PAL system DVD-Audio, the mes-
sage “This disc is PAL system. The output is sound
only” may appear on the monitor. No picture is
available because the disc uses an incompatible
type of video signal. —
Video cannot be recorded. Most DVD-Audio/Video discs are copy-protected
and cannot be recorded. —
Picture appears incorrectly. Incorrect “TV aspect” setting on the Video menu
(in Setup). Select the correct setting. Note that
it may be difficult to adjust the
widescreen format of many DVD-
Videos to fit perfectly on a 4:3
video monitor. 25

If you play PAL system DVD-Audio, the message
“This disc is PAL system. The output is sound

Due to the editing method or material used on a DVD,
ghosting may occur with progressive output.
Turn off the PROGRESSIVE out-

edited or processed inappropriately. (Video will be

The Setup menu settings are
not effective. Setup menu settings are not effective in SACD
mode. Set the parameters for SACD mode,
instead of using the Setup menu.
Some parameters may not be avail-

No digital signal is output
from the digital output jack. Digital signals cannot be output from a Super
Audio CD. —

The remote control does not
function properly. The remote control was operated at an angle or dis-
tance in excess of its operating range. The remote control will function
within a maximum range of 6 m (20
feet) and no more than 30 degrees off-
axis from the front panel. 3
Direct sunlight or lighting (from an inverter type of
fluorescent lamp, etc.) is striking the remote control
sensor of the unit. Reposition the unit. —
The batteries are weak. Replace all batteries with new ones. 3
