Replacing a switch

4.1 Before you begin

CAUTION: Disconnecting an Ethernet switch will disable communications on the network on
which the switch operates. If a CPU switch is disconnected, the system will lose redundancy of
centralized control and protection. If both CPU switches are disconnected, centralized control
and protection is eliminated, but EntelliGuard Messengers will continue to provide minimal
backup protection. If the HMI switch is removed, all HMIs will lose communication with the
central control system, but protection will still function properly.

4.2 Removing the 8-port and 16-port mounting plate

1. Loosen the two screws on the green power plug(s) and remove the plug(s) from the socket(s)

in the switch housing.

NOTE: Do not remove the wires from the plugs. When disconnected, the Ethernet switch power
indicator light should not illuminate.
