Important: Do not autoclave or sterilize pMEAs by heat! This type of MEA is not heat stable
and will be irreversibly damaged!

For cleaning, rinse them with distilled water first, then apply 1% Terg-A-Zyme solution (Sigma)
for several hours. Rinse the pMEA again with distilled water and dry them directly before use.
Sterilization with 70 % ethanol is possible.

pMEA32S12 Layouts

The following pictures show the four different pMEA layouts currently available, each with twelve
electrodes for stimulation, and 32 electrodes for recording. Please see chapter "Data Sheet" in the
Appendix for pin layout, and for MC_Rack channel maps of the pMEA layouts 1 to 4.

The layout pMEA32S12-L1, for example, is specifically designed to fit the hippocampal structure.
The three rows of recording electrodes cover the CA1 area (Cornu ammonis) of the hippocampus.
The two rows of stimulation electrodes cross the Schaffer Collaterals. The other layouts L2 to L4
are for more general use. The ellipse indicates the perforated area.
