Assigning Server Names

Use the Names dialog box to identify servers by a unique name that makes
sense to you and reset names back to the default settings.

To access the Names dialog box:

1. Press Print Screen. The Main dialog box will appear.

2. Click Setup - Names. The Names dialog box appears.

To assign names to servers:

1. Double-click or press Enter to select the text in the Name box. Type a

name. Names of servers may be up to 15 characters long. Legal characters
include: A-Z, a-z, 0-9 and (space). Press Backspace or Delete to delete an
incorrect entry. Press the Arrow keys to move the cursor in the Name box.
Press Insert or the Space Bar to insert a character space.

2. Repeat step 1 for each server in the system.

3. Click OK to save the names.

Click Defaults then click OK to restore default settings.

Click X or press Escape to exit the dialog box without saving changes.

To list servers alphabetically by name:

Press Alt+N or click Name in the Main dialog box.

NOTE: Before you can assign names to servers attached to secondary switches, you must first

make the primary switch aware of the secondary switch. See Assigning Device Types in Chapter 4.
