1Gb iSCSI host ports
P2000 G3 1Gb iSCSI MSA controllers use the Internet SCSI interface protocol for host port connection,
featuring either one or two controller modules. Each controller module provides four iSCSI ports — each
supporting data rates up to 1Gbps — using either one-way or mutual CHAP (Challenge-Handshake
Authentication Protocol).

1Gb iSCSI ports are used in either of two capacities:
• To connect two storage systems through a switch for use of Remote Snap replication.
• For attachment to 1Gb iSCSI hosts directly, or through a switch used for the iSCSI traffic.
The first usage option requires valid licensing for the Remote Snap replication feature, whereas the second
option requires that the host computer supports Ethernet, iSCSI, and optionally, multipath I/O.
10GbE iSCSI host ports
P2000 G3 10GbE iSCSI MSA controllers use the Internet SCSI interface protocol for host port connection,
featuring either one or two controller modules. Each controller module provides two iSCSI host ports
configured with a small form pluggable (10GbE SFP+ transceiver) connector — each supporting data rates
up to 10Gbps — using either one-way or mutual CHAP. 10GbE iSCSI ports are used in either of two
capacities:
• To connect two storage systems through a switch for use of Remote Snap replication.
• For attachment to 10GbE iSCSI hosts directly, or through a switch used for the iSCSI traffic.
The first usage option requires valid licensing for the Remote Snap replication feature, whereas the second
option requires that the host computer supports Ethernet, iSCSI, and optionally, multipath I/O.
Connecting direct attach configurations
The P2000 G3 10GbE iSCSI MSA SFF and P2000 G3 10GbE iSCSI MSA LFF support up to four
direct-connect server connections, two per controller module. The P2000 G3 1Gb iSCSI MSA SFF and
P2000 G3 1Gb iSCSI MSA LFF support up to eight direct-connect server connections, four per controller
module.
To connect the P2000 G3 10GbE iSCSI MSA controller to a server or HBA switch — using the controller’s
iSCSI host ports — select the appropriate qualified 10GbE SFP+ option (see Quickspecs).
To connect the P2000 G3 1Gb iSCSI MSA controller to a server or HBA switch — using the controller’s
iSCSI host ports — select the appropriate qualified 1Gb option (see Quickspecs).
