a. Search for the reported component name in the file:
/etc/opt/hp/platform/firmware/Repository.xml
b. Get the associated filename from the XML element:
<filename>file-name</filename >
2. Check to see if the smart component is still running by using the command:
# ps –aef | grep <smart-component-filename>
If it is running, wait till completion.Periodically checking the preceding command.
3. Issue a flash recommendation operation for the component to see if flash has succeeded, using
the command:
# hpsp_fmt –fr –c <component>
If not, follow steps 4 through 7, below.
4. Make sure that the affected switch has a working peer SAS switch.
5. Log in to the affected switch.
6. Reset the switch by executing the command:
switch local reset hardware forced
7. Retry the operation.
Flash not attempted for VC with error: 0x1051
Error Message: Flash not attempted for Virtual Connect VC_BAY_<VC interconnect bay number>:
Peer Virtual Connect not found at interconnect bay<VC interconnect bay number>.
VC might not be seated properly.
Suggested action
1. Make sure that the VC located in the interconnect bay that is displayed in the error message
is seated properly.
2. Retry the operation.
Flash not attempted for SAS switch with error: 0x104C
Error Message: Flash not attempted for SAS switch SAS_SWITCH_BAY_<SAS interconnect bay.no>:
Peer switch not found at interconnect bay <peer SAS switch interconnect bay no>.
Reported SAS switch might not be seated properly.
Suggested action
1. Make sure that the SAS located in the interconnect bay that is displayed in the error message
is seated properly.
2. Retry the operation.
Flash not attempted for any chassis component with one of the errors: 0x1041,
0x103D
Error Messages:
0x1041 - Failure communicating to Onboard Administrator (OA) - check that OA is up and can
be reached from server: see the log file (/var/log/hp/platform/fmt/firmware.log) for more
information.
0x103D - Flash not attempted for <Component>: No Management IP Address is configured for
this server that can be reached by Onboard Administrator/SAS Switch.
None of the local IPs of the server is reachable by OA.
