2 Initial Settings in P9000 Command View
AE Suite

This chapter explains the settings the storage administrator must perform in P9000 Command View
AE Suite before Plug-in for Virtualization Server Provisioning can be used.

Flow of setting resources

In order for the server administrator to be able to use storage resources in Plug-in for Virtualization
Server Provisioning, the storage administrator must use P9000 Command View AE Suite to set the
resources that can be used, such as storage systems or hosts (virtualization servers), in advance.

The following figure shows the flow of setting P9000 Command View AE Suite resources.

Figure 5 Operational flow (Setting P9000 Command View AE Suite resources)

Resources registered in P9000 Command View AE Suite can be used in Plug-in for Virtualization
Server Provisioning. The storage administrator registers the storage systems and virtualization servers
(physical servers on which virtualization software is installed) that are managed by the server
administrators.

If Thin Provisioning or Smart Tiers is used, create a THP pool in advance so that virtual volumes (THP
volumes) can be allocated to virtualization servers.

NOTE:

To allow the server administrator to view the latest information, you need to periodically update the
information about the resources (the storage systems and hosts) registered in P9000 Command View
AE Suite.
