• Run

If you click Run, you are allowed to log in to Remote Web Console and access the local files

during Remote Web Console operations. You need to access the local files to use Remote

Web Console.

• Cancel

If you click Cancel, you are not allowed to log in to Remote Web Console.

Logging into a Storage System

Important:

Because the initial user ID administrator has a considerable level of access, one of the first

tasks for the chief administrator of the system, including Remote Web Console, is to change the password,

in order to maintain protection of the administrator-only and restricted functions. If you are logging in to

the storage system for the first time, use the initial user ID (administrator) and password (administrator) to

log in as a storage administrator of administrator. All user IDs and passwords are case-sensitive. If you

have changed the password for administrator and that password is lost or forgotten, you must call HP

technical support in order to regain access to the restricted functions.
To log in to a storage system:

1.

Start the Remote Web Console computer, and start your web browser.

2.

Enter the IP address or fully qualified DNS name of the SVP in the web browser. The Login

dialog box appears (see

Figure 14

on page 37).

Note:

If the SVP is set to support SSL-encrypted communication, security messages might appear.

For details, see

Using SSL-Encrypted Communication

” on page 37.

Note:

If you are using a Windows Server 2003 computer, a message as shown in

Figure 18

on page 39 may appear. If this message appears, take the following steps in

Using Windows Server 2003

” on page 38.

Note:

If you are using Windows and JRE is not installed on the Remote Web Console

computer, JRE is automatically installed via the Internet when you log in to Remote Web

Console. However, an error such as shown by

Figure 15

on page 37 can occur because of the

condition of the download server. If an error occurs, download JRE from the Java website (see

Configuring the Web Browser

” on page 23).

3.

Enter the user ID and password.

Note:

If you have failed to log in three times with the same user ID, Remote Web Console stops

replying for one minute. However, it is not a system failure.

4.

Click Login to log in to the primary SVP.

The dialog box that is used to lift the restriction on accessing local files is displayed.

5.

Enable accessing local files on the displayed dialog box.

For the detailed information on how to enable accessing local files, see

Restriction on Accessing Local Client Files

” on page 34.

The Remote Web Console main window opens (see

Figure 21

on page 48).

If the SVP is set to support SSL-encrypted communication, the Security Information dialog box

may be displayed (it depends on the web browser you use). Click Yes to open the Remote

Web Console main window.
