HP VMA Gateway Management Overview

The VMA SAN gateway management software provides for the redundant pairing

of two HP VMA SAN Gateway nodes with HP VMA Memory Array nodes to

create a single virtual system. Using VMA SAN gateway management software,

multiple SAN Gateways and HP VMA Memory Arrays may be configured,

managed, and monitored together from the HP VMA Web Interface or the CLI.

A redundant SAN Gateway pair consists of one or two SAN Gateways (nodes).

With a redundant pair of SAN Gateway nodes, one is designated as the master node

and a second is designated as the secondary node. Should the master node fail, the

secondary node automatically becomes the master and management traffic is

redirected to the new master node.

Gateway management activities include monitoring the SAN Gateway nodes in the

management group, stopping or rebooting nodes, and upgrading the gateway

software. Every node in the management group can be managed using the HP

VMA Web Interface or the CLI.
