MCU-RCU Path: Channel type: Fibre or Serial.
•
Minimum Paths: Minimum number of paths required for selected RCU connected to the MCU.
•
Maximum Initial Copy Activity: Number of concurrent initial copy operations.
•
RIO MIH Time: Time value for the remote I/O (RIO) missing interrupt handler (MIH), which is
the wait time until data transfer from the MCU to RCU is complete.
•
Path Blockade Watch: Time for monitoring blockade in the Fibre Channel paths on the MCU
side.
•
RCU Registered: Date and time the RCU was registered.
•
Last Updated: Date and time the RCU was last updated.
•
Refresh button: Refreshes information displayed on the pane.
•
Close button: Closes the pane.
The Path Status field lists the path status. Table 23 (page 70) describes each status. For

Condition Status description
Logical path was successfully established and can be used for XP Continuous Access
copy activities. Normal
Link initialization procedure with the RCU failed because the physical path connection
between the MCU and the RCU or the connection between the MCU and the host
was missing. Initialization Failed
Timeout error occurred between the MCU and RCU. Communication Timeout
Establish logical path link function was rejected by the RCU. All logical path resources
in the RCU might be used for other connections. Resource Shortage
Serial number of the control unit connected to this logical path does not match serial
number specified by the Add RCU pane. Serial Number Mismatch
Serial interface port specified is not in the RCP or Initiator mode. Invalid Port
The following are possible factors:
•
Specified port in the RCU is physically disconnected from the MCU.
• Port is not configured as an RCU target port.
•
Specified port number is not available.
RCU Port Number Mismatch
Microprogram at the RCU side does not support the fibre remote copy function or
specified port type is not RCU Target. RCU Port Type Mismatch
Timeout error occurred on the path between the MCU and RCU. Communication Failed
Registering RCUs (Add RCU)
You can register up to four RCUs to each MCU, and establish up to eight paths to each RCU. You
must register each CU image as a separate RCU. Logical paths are established for CU images of
the MCU and RCU separately. Maximum number of logical paths for each MCU is 32 (8 paths
per RCU × 4 RCUs per MCU). Remote copy connections and MCU ports must be properly installed
and configured before you can register an RCU. When registering an RCU, the current CU image
of the MCU registers the specified CU image as an XP Continuous Access RCU and establishes
the specified number of logical paths to the RCU. After registering an RCU (and path status is
normal), create XP Continuous Access pairs with S-VOLs in the newly registered RCU.
