Calling by the outgoing/incoming/absent incoming history

You can place a call to any of the last 999 calls by the outgoing/
incoming/absent incoming history.

Press SEARCH

in Phone Book mode to select

the History mode.

Press 8 or 9 to select outgoing history (display
example: “DIALED”), incoming history (display
example: “RECEIVE” ), absent incoming history
(display example: “MISSED”).

Turn the Rotary encoder, or press g or f to
select the addressee from the outgoing or
incoming history.

Press :/J or the Rotary encoder to place a call.

5

Press BAND/TEL. to end the call.

Telephone mode will end and return to the original source
mode.

• If all telephone numbers and registered names cannot be displayed

at once, press TITLE

to show undisplayed numbers and names.

• “NO MEMORY” (“NO MEM” for CDA-9830) is displayed if there

is no history.

SMS (Short Message Service) Operation

You can be informed when you receive a short message.

Receiving a short message

When a text message is received, “NEW
MESSAGE” for CDA-9831, or “NEW MSG” for CDA-
9830 is indicated on the display.

The contents of the received message can only be read
from the portable phone's display.

Press any one of the buttons on the unit to cancel
the display. The buttons that are pressed will enter
the mode or will be activated.

Calling

Calling by the address book

You can call up the address book registered in the portable telephone
to call from.

Press and hold BAND/TEL. for at least 2 seconds.

Press SEARCH

to select Phone Book mode.

A list in alphabetic order is displayed.

Retrieving an addressee by Alphabetic Sort List

When displaying the Alphabetic Sort List, turn the
Rotary encoder or press
g or f to select
the addressee.

Press :/J or Rotary encoder to place a call.

Press BAND/TEL. to end the call.

Telephone mode will end and return to the original source
mode.

Retrieving an addressee by Selecting Search (A-Z search)

Press 8 or 9 to select an initial letter (A to Z) of the
addressee.

Turn the Rotary encoder to select the addressee.

Press the Rotary encoder to place a call.

Press BAND/TEL. to end the call.

Telephone mode will end and return to the original source
mode.

• If all telephone numbers and registered names cannot be displayed

at once, press TITLE

to show undisplayed numbers and names.

• “NO MEMORY” (“NO MEM” for CDA-9830) is displayed if

nothing is registered in the Phone Book.

Calling by using the Speed Dial

You can place a call by retrieving one of the telephone numbers
registered in No. 1 to 9 of the address book.

Press and hold BAND/TEL. for at least 2 seconds.

Within 5 seconds, place a call by pressing and
holding the desired preset button (1 through 6)
for at least 2 seconds.
By pressing F, and then pressing a preset button
(1 through 3) for at least 2 seconds, you can
place a call to the number registered in 7 to 9.

• You can place a call by pressing :/J after momentarily pressing

the preset button (1 through 6) of the number you wish to call.

• You can place a call by pressing the Rotary encoder, after selecting

a number which you wish to call, by pressing g or f , or by
turning the Rotary encoder.

Press BAND/TEL. to end the call.

Telephone mode will end and return to the original source
mode.

• If there is no telephone number registered to a preset button, “NO

PRESET” (“NO P-SET” for CDA-9830) is displayed when you try
to place a call.
