Section VII: Routing

Guidelines

These guidelines apply to the BOOTP relay agent:

ˆ

A routing interface functions as the BOOTP relay agent for the local
clients in its subnet.

ˆ

You can specify up to eight DHCP or BOOTP servers.

ˆ

The TTL for BOOTP request relay packets is preset on the AT-9400
Switch to 4. It cannot be changed. Routing interfaces discard BOOTP
requests when the TTL is decremented to zero (i.e., after 4 hops).

ˆ

Because both BOOTP and DHCP use BOOTP messages, the BOOTP
relay agents can relay both their packets.
