1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the server. Then, disconnect all

power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the server.

2. If the server is installed in a rack cabinet, remove the server from the rack cabinet and place it on a flat,

clean, and static-protective surface.

3. Remove the server cover. See “Removing the server cover” on page 55.

4. Record the component locations, cable connections, and cable routing in the server.

5. Remove the fan duct. See “Removing and reinstalling the fan duct” on page 57.

6. Remove the heat sink. See “Replacing the heat sink” on page 94.

7. Remove the riser card assembly. See “Replacing the riser card assembly” on page 75.

8. Remove all memory modules. See “Removing a memory module” on page 61.

9. Record the cable routing and cable connections. Then, disconnect all the cables from the system board.

10. Remove the eight screws

that secure the system board following the recommended numerical

sequence as shown.
