Creating Brocade trunks

3

For easier maintenance, label the fiber-optic cables and record the devices to which they
are connected.

Do not route cables in front of the air intake vents.

Route the cables to the sides of the Brocade VDX 8770-4 through the vertical cable
management fingers.

Keep LEDs visible by routing port cables and other cables away from the LEDs.

Creating Brocade trunks

In VCS mode, unless specifically disabled, Brocade trunking between adjacent switches is
automatic in order to form the VCS cluster. This occurs only on the 48x10G line cards. All ports
must be in the same port group and must be configured at the same speed. There is a limit of eight
ports per trunk group. While a VCS license is required when connecting more than two switches, no
separate licensing is required for Brocade trunking. For more information about Brocade trunks,
see the Brocade Network OS Administrator’s Guide.
