5.1 Information and safety instructions for use

Caution! Petrol, thinner, fuel oil etc. may form explosive fumes or mixtures,

if allowed to mix with the suction air flow.

● Acetones, acids and solvents may attack the materials employed on

your appliance. It is quite safe to vacuum water which contains ordinary
household cleaning agents.

● After wet vacuuming or spray extraction operations, clean the soiled-water

tank and all used accessories and allow to dry.

Never vacuum liquids or carry out spray extraction without

the soiled-water tank.

● Your THOMAS SYNTHO AQUAFILTER is not suitable for extracting large

quantities of liquids from tanks or basins.

Prior to wet-cleaning carpets
● Ensure that the entire area to be wet-cleaned is suitable for wet-cleaning,

e.g. do not wet-clean delicate, hand-woven or non-colourfast carpets.

For test purposes, apply a little detergent solution to a white cloth and rub a
concealed area of the carpet with this cloth. If there are no traces of colour
on the cloth, it may be assumed that the carpet is colourfast. Should colour
rub off onto the cloth, the carpet must not be wet-cleaned.

Should you be unsure, consult a carpet dealer.

If the carpet has been shampooed at an earlier juncture, this may result
in considerable foaming in the soiled-water tank when the THOMAS
SYNTHO AQUAFILTER is used for the first time. To prevent further foaming,
pour

a cup of vinegar into the soiled-water container.

Should foam emerge from the air outlet, switch the appliance off immedia-
tely and empty the soiled-water tank.

Strong foaming is no longer possible after cleaning once with ProTex

cleaning concentrate, as this agent contains a special foam inhibitor.

Do not walk on the carpet as long as it remains damp.

The room should be well ventilated during and after cleaning, to enable
swift drying.

5.2 Set-up for spray extraction (wash-vacuuming)

General preparation

J Open housing lid (1) by lifting the lid opener (5).

I

Lift the dust-bag holder (21) with the dust bag (22) out of the dust bag
compartment (79).

K

If the dust bag is not completely full, it can be slid into "hygienic position"
(see Section 4.3,

G

).

E

Remove complete microfilter cassette (19). The motor protection filter (20)
must remain in the appliance.

L Insert soiled-water tank (27) complete with wet filter (26) and anti-

sloshing insert (24) into the appliance.

Fold handle (77) away to side. Ensure that it does not cover the housing
seal.

K Ensure that float (25) remains clean and easy-moving at all times. This

float interrupts vacuuming operations when the soiled-water tank is full.

Close the housing lid.

M Remove fresh water tank (7) for filling (pull vertically upwards) or fill

directly in the appliance.

Open the shutter (6) and pour in mixture of cleaning concentrate and
water.

For carpet cleaning, use the Pro Tex cleaning concentrate.

For information on application and dosing, please refer to the label on
the cleaning concentrate bottle.

Use hand-warm water (max. 30°C).

Higher temperatures may harm

not only the appliance, but also carpeting and upholstered furniture.

Close the shutter (6) and refit the fresh water tank (7).

When filling the fresh water tank, ensure that no impurities enter the tank,
as these might impair the function of the shutter valve.

Carpet cleaning

P Slide the carpet spraying nozzle (39) onto the suction tube (52). If the 4-S

cleaning nozzle (40) is fitted, open the holding clip (80) and pull out the
carpet spraying nozzle (39). Now take the spraying nozzle (49) out of the
holder (48) and insert this in the connector (18).

M Pull mains plug (78) out of the appliance and connect to mains.

N Switch on the appliance at the master ON/OFF switch (16). The yellow

indicator lamp (12) signals that the appliance is ready for use.

O

Start the appliance by pressing the button for vacuuming mode (29) and

the button for the spray pump (28) on the handle (32).

The functions can be switched on and off as desired by repeatedly pres-
sing buttons (28) and (29).

Please note!
In spraying mode (as in steam vacuuming mode), the speed control function is
not active. The appliance operates automatically at maximum power, to ensure
optimum vacuuming of the soiled water.

Always check that there is water in the fresh water tank
before you use the spraying system (button 28) to prevent any
damage on the appliance.

Cleaning the HEPA-filter

Your appliance has a high quality HEPA-filter which can be cleaned as
and when required depending on the kind of dust you encounter. By
cleaning the filter the appliance can again generate the full suction capa-
city.

Clean depending on use and when the suction power declines (at the latest
every 6 months).

E

Remove the HEPA-filter (19) from the appliance and take out the dust by
knocking the filter on a firm underground.

Should the filter be very dirty the filter can also be rinsed out with clear
water, but without cleansing agent, and tapped to clean afterwards.

Do not use brushes for cleaning. Dry the filter thoroughly
before fitting it back in the appliance again.

When cleaning the HEPA-filter (19) do not damage the filter
fins.
If the suction capacity of the appliance has not been considerably improved
after cleaning the HEPA-filter the filter should be replaced by a new one.
