extending the shaft, taking a measurement and splitting the difference of
the two measurements. (Fig. 2, 3 & 4).






5) Install the U-Joints on the Unisteer shaft (that has been centered). Be sure

that each end of the shaft is flush to the inside of the u-joint yokes.
Measure from the pinch bolt on the lower u-joint to the pinch bolt on the
upper u-joint. Refer to the distance between the steering box and steering
column and compare that dimension to the Unisteer shaft. They should be
with in 2 inches of each other. If the Unisteer shaft is more than 2 inches
too long remove the tube side u-joint and cut to size. If the shaft is too
short, extend it past center, but NOT more than 2.5 inches.


NOTE: Some applications such as early Jeeps & GM’s include a stub
shaft
that needs to be pinned into the tube side of Unisteer shaft.
Account for this additional length. (see fig. 5-6 below)
