Chapter 3

Collecting Batch Data

All batch event data is collected using the FactoryTalk Batch
Archiver. The BHBatchHis database table is the source of data for
FactoryTalk Historian for Batch.

Information about the FactoryTalk Historian for Batch
architecture, tables, and fields used to collect batch data is provided
so you can create your own objects and reports by extending the
existing schema.

The FactoryTalk Batch Server generates event data stored as ASCII
text in event journal (.evt) files. The FactoryTalk Batch Archiver

executes stored procedures (in SQL) or functions (in Oracle) that
parse the data and place it in an organized group of tables within the
RSBizWare relational database where it can be retrieved and used in
reports, such as the sample batch reports provided.

The FactoryTalk Historian for Batch stored procedures or functions
assimilate and store essential FactoryTalk Batch event journal data
into the RSBizWare relational database. FactoryTalk Historian for
Batch provides various database views (i.e., virtual tables whose
contents are defined by a pre-configured query) to allow advanced

users to leverage various tools to quickly and easily perform
on-demand and ad-hoc queries of batch and continuous process
data.

The picture on the next page briefly illustrates the relationship
between the FactoryTalk Batch Archiver, the BHBatchHis table
and the RSBizWare relational database, including the tables of the
database in which batch data is stored.
