18.

Once the instrument is successfully

connected, the amber “Communications”
LED (middle position) will light.

19.

Upon connection, the Instrument

Configuration is shown for verification. If
correct, click on “OK”.

Accepting this screen tells Vision to set up a
branch of the Diagnostic Database for this
instrument configuration.

When the user disconnects and re-connects
to the instrument, Vision may ask the user to
re-confirm this screen. When this occurs,
click “OK” to proceed.

The Multiplexer Channel will be “grayed
out.” Vision will store each test result under
the correct multiplexer channel, from those
marked as “used” in the Mux Table.

This manual now describes various software

tests used to set up and test the instrument.
These tests must be run on each sample
channel marked as “Used” in the Mux Table.

First select the channel. From the menu bar,
click on Acquire, then Select Channel. Use
the spinner to select the channel. Start with
Channel 1, and continue with all “Used”
channels.

Transmission Pair Tests

Transmission Pair systems must be calibrated before use. One fiber
bundle carries “white light” from the instrument to the sample cell.
The other fiber bundle is used to return light to the instrument, to
be broken down in the monochromator to individual wavelengths,
then measured for spectral response. Absorbance of the sample is
then determined.

The following sections describe photometric and wavelength
calibrations required for repeatable response and transferability.

10.4.1

Wavelength Linearization, Transmission Pair

The first test to be run is Wavelength Linearization. This provides initial wavelength locations for the
sample spectrum, prior to final wavelength calibration.
