Figure 14: Device Panel properties/ options

1 Speakers Properties: These are the device, speaker, and filter designations.

2 Logs: These logs track the temperature and register how often Protect mode
was initiated over a 72-hour period. that is, the last 72 hours of operation and
not the past three days! They let you review your system’s performance after
the event. You can read these data from the clipboard.

3 Maintenance: This is a duty cycle counter that can’t be reset. In other words,
it tallies how often the device was switched on as well as how often its Protect
mode engaged, say because individual power amp modules were overloaded or
the operating temperature limit was exceeded.

The included CD containing installation software provides more info on
handling the application.

5 Tips and Tricks

1. Do not expose electronic circuitry to moisture! Protect the system against rain
when setting it up outdoors. Keep soft drinks, beer, and any other liquids well
away to prevent electronic components from short-circuiting.

2. Ensure rear panel vents are free of dirt and debris, and proper ventilation is
assured. Otherwise, electronic components may overheat and suffer damage.

3. ICON systems deliver optimum sound, so you should provide it with optimum
input signals! Noise such as humming is generally caused by defective cables,
the wrong type of cords, or unbalanced signals routed into the mixing console.
Check all signal and mains cables.

4. Prevent distortion! Not only is it unpleasant to your audience’s ears, it also
endangers your equipment. Make sure all components connected directly and
indirectly to the ICON system have sufficient power ratings, and that they don’t
distort because they‘re running at their respective limits. Feed an undistorted
signal to the system that doesn’t have to be cleaned up by backing off the Gain
knob.

5. Avoid ground loops! You may encounter a ground loop when the mixer is
grounded via a mains cord which isn’t connected to the same mains circuit

as the ICON system. To avoid this problem, always connect the ICON system
and the mixing console to the same electrical circuit (same phase!). CAUTION:
Never tape over the plug’s ground terminal - this endangers lives!

7 Troubleshooting

The Power On LED does not light up when the unit is switched on. Check if

• the power cord is plugged into the Mains Input.
• the mains power supply is providing current.
• the house circuit breaker has tripped.

The Power On LED lights up red, but no sound is issuing from the cabinets.
Check

• the cords connected to the inputs.
• if the signal sources (mixer, keyboard, CD player, etc.) are on.
• if the Gain knobs are turned up.
• the signal-carrying cords for damage.
• the position of the User Settings (On/Off) switch. If it is on, the controller has

loaded the most recent settings from the PC software, in which case the Mute
button may be engaged. If you have not connected a PC to the system, set the
switch to the Off position.

The subwoofer’s low-frequency output is weak.

• Check the cord connecting the IC 112 LA mid/high unit’s Sub Out to the

IC 118 BA subwoofer’s Input.

The signal sounds distorted.

• Check the LED displays on your mixer. Ensure they are not constantly in the

red. If necessary, back off the volume at the mixer.

• Observe the Limiter LEDs on the ICON mid/high units’ control panels. They

may light up yellow, but only briefly. Under no circumstances may the yellow
LEDs illuminate continuously. If this is the case, turn down the Gain knobs.
