Printing

N

OTE

:

Intermittent print quality and color quality problems are difficult to trace. Before you try to troubleshoot print quality

problems, print a color test page to make sure that the copier does not need servicing or adjusting.

Test Page fails to print.

The copier is not ready to print

Make sure the copier is powered on and ready to print.

The connection between the ColorPASS
and the copier is faulty.

1. Recheck that the copier interface cable is present and

properly connected to the ColorPASS and the copier (see
page 3-3).

2. If the problem persists:

• Power off the copier.

• Recycle power on the ColorPASS by shutting down through

the Functions menu, powering off at the front panel,
waiting 10 seconds, and then powering the ColorPASS back
on (see page 3-16).

• One minute after the ColorPASS reaches Idle, power the

copier back on.

3. If the problem persists, replace the copier interface cable

(see page 3-3).

4. If the problem persists, replace the copier interface board

(see page 4-17).

5. If the problem persists, you may need to service the

copier.

ColorPASS appears on the
list of printers on the
customer’s workstation,
but certain jobs
do not print.

A PostScript error

Make sure Print to PostScript Error in Setup is set to
Yes

. Check for error messages on the ColorPASS output.

An application problem

1. Try printing a job from a different application to

determine if the problem is associated with a particular
application.

2. Make sure the connection between the ColorPASS and the

workstation is working by downloading a test page from
the workstation, or by printing a simple file such as a
text file.

3. Resend the problem file.
