If there is a problem, it does not mean a malfunction. Before sending for
repair, please examine your device according to the following:

• The power cord may be loose or not plugged in. Please make sure that

the power cord is secure in the AC socket.

• The unit may be in standby mode. Turn the unit on with the “POWER”

button on the remote control or the button “STANDBY/ON“ on the front
panel of the DVD recorder.

• The disc may not be properly placed. Please place the disc in again.

• The device is in initial installation mode. Switch on the TV and select the

audio/video programme of your TV set (e.g. AV1 or AV2), if necessary.
The virgin mode setup page appears. Please refer to section “Initial
installation”
in chapter “Installing your DVD recorder” (see pages
26-27).

• There is no power. Check if the power cord is secure in the AC socket

and the device.

• A programmed recording (timer) is currently being made. If desired,

cancel the recording with the Stop button

or the button “STAND-

BY/ON”.

• There is a technical problem. Disconnect the device from the power out-

let for 30 seconds and plug in the power cord again.

• Make sure you are aiming the remote control directly at the DVD

recorder’s remote control sensor, located on the front of the device.

• There is a technical problem. Take out the battery from the battery com-

partment, wait for 10 seconds and re-insert it.

• Make sure there are no obstacles between the remote control and the

device.

• The battery may be used up. Change the battery in the remote control.
• You could be using the remote control too far away. Try closer to the

recorder.

• Make sure the video cable connecting the DVD recorder to your TV is

secure.

• The TV is not set to the DVD/Video mode. Set the TV to the audio/video

programme (e.g. AV1 or AV2).

• The video aspect ratio may be set wrong for your television type. Enter

the OSD menu and select the menu “Audio/Video”. Change the “TV
shape”
setting to 4:3 panscan if you are using a standard TV, or change
to 16:9 if your TV is a wide-screen type.

• Your TV set is not properly set.
• The disc may be dirty. Try cleaning the disc.
• Sometimes there may be short picture interferences that are not caused

by your DVD recorder.

• The volume is set to minimum. Raise up the volume.
• Make sure the audio cables connecting the DVD recorder to your

speakers, TV or receiver are properly connected.

• The movie is paused. There is no sound during pause or search modes.
• There may be a mistake in the sound settings. Reset to the original set-

tings.

The DVD recorder does not power
on.

The disc tray cannot be closed.

Your DVD recorder does not
respond to any button being
pressed, and the display shows
“PROCESS”.

Your DVD recorder does not
respond to any button being
pressed.

The remote control does not work.

No picture.

The picture appears stretched or
squeezed.
