Using this manual

The instructioris in this manual are for the four models listed in the table below. Before
you start reading tiiis manual and operating '^ur camcorder, check the model number
by looking at the bottom of your camcorder. ТЪе DCR-TRV315 is the model used for
illustration purposes. Otherwise, the model name is indicated in the illustrations. Any
di^erences m operation are clearly indicated in the text, for example, "DCR-TRV315
only."

As you read through this manual, buttons and settings on your camcorder are shown in
capital letters.

With your digital camcorder, you can use HiS video cassettes HI
Your camcorder records and plays back pictures in the DigitalS O system. Also, your
camcorder plays back tapes recorded in the HiS Hil3/standard 8 Q (analog) system.
You, however, cannot use the functions in "Advanced Playback Operations" on page 42
to 48 for playback in the HiS HIB/standard 8 B system. To enable smooth transition,
we recommend that you do not mix pictures recorded in the HiS HIB/standard 8 B
with the Digitals H system on a tape.

TV color sy^ems differ from country to country. To view your recordings on a TV, you
need an NTSC system-based TV.

precision technology. However, there may be some tiny black spots and/or
bright spots (red, blue or green in color) that constantly appear on the LCD
screen and/or in the viewfinder. These spots occur normally in the
