Lesson 4: Using Menus

The

HP 48

employs

49

keys to access

over a thousand operations.

This

greatly

extended

keyboard is due primarily

to

the

use

of

m e n u s .

A

menu

is a

set

of

operations defined for the

six white

m e n u k e y s

the

top row of the keyboard. The

current

by

Menu labels

Menu keys

Some menu labels are disj)layed with a small "tal)" attaclied to the

top left-hand side of the label. These “tabbed” operations do not act
on data; they are navigational, simply leading to a different menu or

cation.

The

(

nxt

)

Key

Menus often contain more

than

six operations. When

tfiey do, they have multiple “pages.” The

(NXT

) key

brings up the next, page of the current: menu. Pressing

iLiiii tliJ 7] brings up the previous page of the current

menu.

Occasionally, you will want to quickly

oscillate

between two

different menus. Pressing

brings up the

m e n u

displayed

immediately before the current one.
