Flash shooting distance range depends on aperture. In programmed auto or shutter

priority auto exposure mode, controlled aperture varies according to lens' maximum

aperture and film speed in use. For reference, flash shooting distance ranges with

AF Zoom-Nikkor 35-70mm f/3.3-fl4.5 lens, in programmed or shutter-priority auto,

are shown on page 20.
